Motto: Don’t Turn that Dial! (It’ll Cost You $120.00)

 >  I Don’t Have an Excuse for Why it’s Been a While. You All Should Know that My Updates Occur on a Seemingly Random Basis by Now.

 > Okay- Main Topic Introduction Time:

 > I Got Pulled Over Two Days Back. I Was Driving with My Headlights Turned Off in at 11 O’Clock at Night. Pretty Stupid, I Know- But I Have a List of a Few Things that Should be Noted in My Defense:

1. I Didn’t Get Very Far from Where I started Before I got Pulled Over

2. The Streets were Lit Almost the Entire way There

3. It wasn’t My Car, so I Hadn’t Developed the Habits of Turning the Lights On (to be honest, my habit of twisting the thing to turn the lights ON may very well have been how they got turned OFF in the first place… maybe not, we don’t know)
4. The Ground was Wet, So The Street Lights were Reflecting Off of the Pavement, Giving the Appearance that the Lights Lighting the Pavement in front of Me were, in fact, Traveling with Me

5. I Hadn’t Met a Single Car Until the Policeman, Which is TERRIBLE Luck (I’m sure anybody else would have flashed their lights and called me a dumbass under their breath)

6. Because I was Trying to go the Short Way, Which I Hadn’t Went before, I was more Focusing on HOW to get to the place I was going than the Actual Act of Getting There.

7. I Hadn’t had ANY Trouble at ALL Seeing the Road or Where I was At.

8. I DID have Parking Lights On- Not Very Bright- but They are at Least Lights.

Anyways, I got Pulled Over and the Policeman Gave me a Ticket which Turned Out to Cost $120.00. I Understand How NORMALLY somebody driving at night with No Lights On Would be Stupid Enough to Warrant Giving Up $120. But, Given My Particular Circumstances, It Seems a Bit Excessive. I’m Not Really Complaining Though, Because I Understand that the System Doesn’t Work Like that and I Probably Could have Contested the Charges or Whatever to Plead Why I’m not a Complete Idiot, but It’s Easier Just to Cut Your Loses and Move on at That Point in Time. Which is Exactly what I was Wanting to Do. You Know My Luck, Though. Before Going to Pay My Fine I did a Balance Inquiry on My Debit Card- $121.72. I Think to Myself “YES, Just Enough to Get this Over With,” or So I Thought. As it Turns There’s an $18 Technology Fee if You want to Pay a Fine from $100 to $200 with a Card, So I’ll Come Up Short. Luckily I Knew of an ATM 2 Blocks Away. So I Went to It- I Said I wanted $120.00. I was Getting Ready to Press “Enter” When I Remembered “Oh Shit, Isn’t there a $2 Transaction Fee?”  So I think to Myself- Well, That’s Only 28 Cents Difference, I’ve EASILY got 28 Cents in My Car! Come to Find Out- You Can Only Make Withdrawals in Increments of $10. So I Can Only get Out $110.00. This Leaves Me $10.00 Short. I Look in My Wallet (There’s Good News) I’ve Got Zero Dollars of Hard Cash. So I Take Out $110.00 and Hope to God I had 10$ in My Car. As it Turns Out, I Had EXACTLY $7.70. So I Had to Call Nick and Get a Big Favor from Him. When He Found Me, He Called me an Idiot and He Gave Me $5. So Now I Owe Him $5 and a Huge Favor and I Just Paid $120.00 to the City of Lawrence because I Twisted a Dial on a Lever to the Left of the Steering Wheel.

 > That was the Story of My Weekend.

 > Christine Got Me “Hot Rod” as an Early Christmas Present. She’s Pretty Sweet, What can I Say.

 > I’ve Only Talked About 3 Things, But This is Possibly One of the Longer Updates Already.

 > I Would Write About More, but I Have a Physics Homework Assignment to Get Finished (and Started.) So I Probably Should Start That.

 > Nick was in the Newspaper. Seven South. Yeah.

My dad just contested one that was real shaky, too, and they didn’t even want to go to court and dropped the charge. All I’m sayin’ is, sometimes you get lucky.

Through the good times and the bad baby :-) I still love you. I was as guilty as you were because of the fact that it was my car. Anyways. I liked this longer update even if it was about your frustration. Btw, Nick shouldn’t say anything, HE’S The one that got a $406 ticket for speeding. So. Huh!

    P.S. I love you
