Fact: You’ve Gotta Be Cool to be in the J-Crew
> Just When You Get Life Figured Out. Change Everything You’ve Ever Learned. A Big Fish in a Small Pond can make Quite the Shrimp in the Sea. I Mean, Sure We are All Part of the Same Ocean, but a Shrimp Definitely Feels Way Bigger in a Tide Pool than in the Whole Bay. Other Shrimps Don’t Give Three and a Half Dumps about You.
> That’s the Only Realization that I’ve Had so Far- Other than if You Don’t Go Along with the Crowd, It’s Hard to Earn a Lot of Friends Real Fast. That Plus You Can Hear Subwoofers From 4 Doors Away. But I have Met Some Cool Dudes. The Main One being Patrick Somethingoranother from Two Doors North. The Sad Thing is I Know I could Completely Dumb Myself Down and Lose All Sense of Self that I Have and Become a Heavy Hitter of Personality around Here. The Only Way to Do that Would be to Make more of an Ass of Myself than Everybody Else and I’d Fit in Just Great.
> My Work at this Point in Time was Saved Due to Tiredness (not physical tiredness, tiredness of updating) and will be Continued at Some Later Date.
> Some Later Date Later…
> I Still Feel Pretty Much the Same about the Situation. It’s Still Fun. I’ve Got Enough Cool Guys around Me to Act as a Shield to the Others. We’ve Been having a Good Time. Classes Started Today. I Already Got and Finished My First Homowork Assignment, which Makes Me Kind of Happy. Also I Jumped the Gun on My Psychology Class and Got a “Research Credit” Out of the Way, Later On I Have to Fill Out Some thing and I’ll already Be 2/10ths (or 1/5th as I learned in Math class) of the Way Done.
> My BIGGEST Goal at College is Not to Screw Up My Life in Any Way, Shape, or Form. My Second Biggest Goal is to Have Fun. Third is to Learn Stuff- and Finally, the Fourth is to Kick Ass at Halo.
> Significant Figures can Kiss My Ass.
> That Last Bulleted Item was Meant to be Blunt. Very Blunt. James Blunt. You’re Bluntiful, You’re Bluntiful, It’s True.
> This Shrimp is Going to Go Eat at Mrs. E’s.

Damn, I didn’t get homework on my first day of class. I guess that’s the difference between KU and ESU. Or maybe it’s the ES…
Anyway, there’s no way you have a better class than my “History of Jazz” class. Our instructor is an actual Jazz musician, and he even tours the country. Because of this, he won’t be at ESU for all of our classes. On those days, we just won’t have class. Plus, there’s no textbook. None. He just gives us study guides for each chapter in the non-required textbook to study for the quiz., and they’re basically the exact same thing. Can you even imagine an awesomer class? Also, can you tell I’m not in an English class?
I talk too much. I need my own blog. Oh, well, I’m too lazy. I’ll deal with it. It seems like you’re having fun in Lawrence, so make sure to keep it that way, a-ight?

I’m a little nervous that your #1 goal is to not screw up your life . . . don’t get me wrong, it’s a good goal . . . but #1?
It makes me worry that you’ll live life in a shell and not try all of the things that a typical college experience entails. Not screwing up should be one of those things that’s in the back of your mind at all times, but not your dominant thought. It will limit your experiences and your friendships.
I think that a more appropriate #1 might be to never compromise your sense of self. If you operate with that as your situation analysis, I’m pretty certain you will walk away from college unscathed.
Have fun, try news things, meet new people!
Take care,
Alissa
